Oh, hehe . I have actually been here since about July (as Dreaming_of_Dolls; this is my account at my dad's house), so I should know that! LOL! That is a good question. Who did start this message board? Are they still here? Hmm...

This message board used to be the official message board for SOAGC, the Society for American Girl Collectors. Ann founded that group and this board. When she had her baby, about 9 months ago, she was so busy that she had to give something up, due to her new time constraints, so she separated the message board from the Society and stepped down from being a moderator. She still maintains the website for the Society.

I've been around since the beginning!
It began as a website. Ann had (and still has) a website called Society of American Girl Collectors. The purpose of the group *originally* was mostly for collectors who liked the historical lines and were upset about retirements. On the site she had a link to a small bulletin board where we could post. It was an okay board, but didn't have many features. She decided she would move on to a better board system, and the current members recommended ezboard. I've had a board on Hostboard since 1999 and recommended Hostboard (since they don't ask for your street address--ezboard at least used to!), and she chose Hostboard.
Since starting the group, Ann has had a baby and has moved to having volunteer moderators take over. The bulletin board group is also not affiliated with SOAGC now and has been renamed.
So Ann is to thank for all of her hard work in getting the group started, and the current moderators are to thank for all the work they do now with AGFMB!
(Hopefully I got all the facts right!)
[Oops . . . I was typing the same time as Joy, so there's some repeat info. here.]
